Biography

Originally formed in 2002 the band comes from Latvia. The band first gained notice with debut single "Nothing" in 2006.

Lyrics

All the lyrics are created by singer Kristina Dobele. Before writing new lyrics for a new song, the goal is always the same - the lyrics have to go hand in hand with the music, creating a new emotional experience. Lyrics mostly are about relationships in a classy and straight sense, they’re not based on rock’n’roll clichés as one night stands etc. They’re about real love and passion.

Music

The band's music could be defined as electro-acoustic, meaning, behind the real drums and guitars, there are a lot of expressive synthetic sounds. Most of the songs are dance oriented; still an atmospheric feeling is permeating the whole thing. The Briefing music changes all the time, starting with an acoustic set to dance-punk sensitivity – they never stay the same. The Briefing pretty much is a live band. The band's live performances perfectly fit driving dance club atmosphere and they simply rock in open air festivals.

Records

In June 2008 the band has released their debut album called "Funny Thoughts" under the Record Label "Antena". It includes 11 original songs produced by The Briefing. Special feature on album design is art works from comics and street art artist Nate Van Dyke from California (worked also with Slayer, Red Hot Chili Peppers)."Funny Thoughts" was nominated to Latvian music Awards as The Best Alternative album act.

The following album Remixed Thoughts was released in 2009 and is also nominated as The Best Dance Act in Latvian Music Awards. The album consists of remixes of the band's debut album Funny Thoughts, made by several DJs, such as DJ Over-X, Cita Mode, Bandmaster, Oyaarss, N' Works, Tek Trip and Toneshift.
